In 1962 I joined ABC Television as a trainee, instantly turning my interest into a full time career, moving to Yorkshire Television in 1968. By 1988, just as the industry began to decline, I founded television post-production facility Sync Facilities. After moderate success and 8 more years of bad weather, we emigrated to Southern Spain - where the sun is always 4 stops brighter.

Until leaving YTV, I had always been a sound man (as in audio, not brain), but I then found a fascination for editing the pictures. I believe this to be fundamentally similar to editing sound as it's all about timing. With the picture, there seems to be even more of an opportunity to be creative. It can be intensive and satisfying.

When I was 10, I had an aunt who worked as a photographic re toucher. She gave me a printing frame and I was able to make contact prints, using the sun as a light source. My destiny was set, attempting to reinvent some of my earlier skills, whilst thoroughly enjoying our life here on the Costa del Sol.
